Stopping the Clock on the Joint Admissions Agreement (JAA) Five-Year Period for Earning an Associate’s Degree1

Once enrolled under the Joint Admissions Agreement (JAA), students are expected to complete their associate’s degree at CCRI within a five-year period. However, the clock may be stopped during this five-year period when JAA students experience the following circumstances:

  • Enrollment solely in developmental courses
  • Absence due to military obligations
  • Absence due to medical reasons
  • Exceptional circumstances (If an advisor feels that a student has an exceptional reason that merits an exemption, the reason can be presented to the JAA advising coordinator, who will present the request to the URI or RIC JAA coordinator for approval).

1JAA policy based upon recommendations of the Interinstitutional Articulation Transfer Committee (IATC) meeting of November 3, 2006.
