Dr. Alan Tenreiro is president of Mount Saint Charles Academy, Woonsocket, as well as an alumnus of the high school. He previously served as principal of Cumberland High School, where he was honored as a National Principal of the Year by the National Association of School Principals for advancing student achievement, equity, and postsecondary outcomes. Prior to that, he served on the Pawtucket School Committee for eight years, including as chairman.
Dr. Tenreiro serves as the co-chairman of the Rhode Island College Alumni & Foundation Board and was previously an executive board member of the R.I. Association of School Committees.
He earned an Ed.D. in education leadership & education from Manhattanville University; an M.Ed. in educational leadership & administration and a B.S. in social studies teacher education both from Rhode Island College.
