Dennis Algiere

Bio

Dennis Algiere of Westerly, a former Rhode Island Senate Minority Leader, is executive vice president, chief compliance officer and director of community affairs for The Washington Trust Company. He represented Westerly in the General Assembly for 30 years, retiring from public service in 2023.

His record of public service is outstanding. Prior to running for the General Assembly, he served two years on the Westerly Town Council. He also served on the Federal Reserve Board of the Governor’s Consumer Advisory Council and remains an active member of the Rhode Island Bankers Association and American Bankers Association. Additionally, he is a member of the president’s council at Providence College and on the board of trustees at Salve Regina University. He is an active board member of United Theatre, Westerly.

He earned a J.D. from the University of Massachusetts School of Law, a master’s degree from Northeastern University and a bachelor’s degree from Providence College. He has completed an executive education program at Harvard University and is a graduate of Leadership Rhode Island.
