Melanie Bowdish is the director of RI Longitudinal Data System. She brings a unique combination of experience working with Rhode Island’s state agencies and integrated data systems as well as having led teams that delivered large-scale analytics and engineering projects. As a former data scientist with DataSpark, she is abundantly familiar with the system she will now lead. During COVID-19, she was the Data Dashboard Production Lead for EOHHS and managed a team of engineers and analysts conducting daily end-to-end data intake, transformation, and visualization of aggregated data insights from multiple state agencies, which enabled state leaders to make policy decisions based on accurate, real-time health trends. Most recently, she served as a Senior Manager at commonFont LLC, a technology consulting firm that specializes in Experience Management (Customer and Employee Experience), providing professional services & large-scale technology migrations for leading global brands. She holds a master’s degree from Brown University, a graduate certificate from Johns Hopkins University, and a bachelor’s degree from Penn State.
